Why We Chose the Cross

When you think about golf, the first few swings aren’t exactly what you imagined. Maybe you saw yourself hitting clean, perfect shots, the ball soaring gracefully toward the green. But reality sets in after your first few rounds—golf can be frustrating. At times, it can feel like you're just out there whacking a ball around aimlessly. It’s not always the experience you signed up for.

But then it happens. That first smooth shot that goes exactly how you pictured it. The ball takes off perfectly, and for a moment, everything feels just right. That one moment of clarity changes everything. Suddenly, all the frustrations, the practice, the effort feel worth it. You’re hooked. You’re sold on the game.

Life can be a lot like those first rounds of golf. It can feel like you’re swinging at air, missing the mark, and wondering what the point of it all is. But when you experience something greater, something bigger than yourself, things start to make sense. You begin to see the purpose behind it all.

At Hopeful Horizon Golf, we include the cross in our logo not to push an agenda, but because some things are much bigger than golf, business, or even making the perfect putting green. Just like that first great shot can change the way you see the game of golf, experiencing God’s love can change the way you see life.

We understand that not everyone comes to this page looking for life lessons—they may just want a putting green, and that’s perfectly okay! But the reason you’ll see a cross in our logo is because, just like we believe in the beauty of the game of golf, we believe there’s a gift from God, freely given, that changes everything. That gift is what makes life worth more than just “whacking a ball around.” It brings purpose, peace, and joy.
